Dkfm. Karl Fink, Member of the Managing Board of Wiener Städtischer Versicherungsverein, Founding Member and Honorary Member of Vienna Economic Forum, was appointed as honorary consul of Montenegro for the federal province of Burgenland by the Federal President of the Republic of Austria in November 2013.

In his capacity as a honorary consul, Karl Fink will represent the economic interests of Montenegro in Austria and its neighbouring countries as well as in the European Union and intensify economic relations. Another goal of Karl Fink is to ensure that Montenegro’s international interests are taken into account in Austrian policies. He will also support the efforts of his country to join the EU. In the interest of Montenegro’s business community, he will promote cooperation between Montenegro, Austria and Eastern European enterprises. As far as the educational sector is concerned, the honorary consul will focus on intercultural exchanges between academic institutions in Montenegro and Austria. Furthermore, he will support bilingual cooperation as well as students‘ exchanges between universities in Montenegro and Austria and promote Montenegro as a cultural and travel destination.

Karl Fink will contribute his long-standing experience and knowledge to serve the interests of the Republic of Montenegro. In 1975 he joined Wiener Städtische Versicherung. From 1979 to 1987 he was the CEO of Interrisk-Internationale Versicherungs AG, headquartered in Vienna. Becoming a member of the Managing Board of Wiener Städtische Versicherung in 1987, Karl Fink focused on transport, industry, re-insurance and international business. After having been appointed as Deputy General Manager in July 2004, he was awarded the title General Manager in October 2007. At the end of 2009 he retired from the Managing Board. From 2009 to 2012 Karl Fink was active as a member of the Extended Group Management of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG). At present Karl Fink still occupies various positions: he is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VIG Re, Chairman of the Managing Board of the Turkish VIG Group company Ray Sigorta as well as a member of the Supervisory Boards of leading Austrian industrial enterprises.
