DEAR MEMBERS, PARTNERS AND FRIENDS OF VIENNA ECONOMIC FORUM!
The year 2022 was special in two significant ways. On the one hand, it brought a much anticipated and necessary relief from the global pandemic, thus returning a form of normality to everyday living and to the prospects of recovery and economic revival. On the other hand, the world as we know it was shaken by a new reality that imposed yet another challenge.
Looking back at the previous years, we can be absolutely certain about the unique quality of Vienna Economic Forum to be resilient and to adapt to new circumstances, always having in mind and striving to fulfill its founding goal: to follow the incorporated vision, the Vienna Economic Forum vision of building a “Common Economic Area from the Adriatic to the Black Sea.”
This has been the focus of Vienna Economic Forum’s endeavors throughout 2022 and was achieved primarily in the realization of the “Vienna Economic Talks – Istanbul Meeting 2022” in May 2022. The event made a further contribution to the core goal of Vienna Economic Forum: regional economic development. Vienna Economic Forum would like to express its gratitude to the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye Investment Office for the strong organizational support and for the symbolic choice of the historic location Dolmabahce Palace, where the Vienna Economic Forum member country Turkiye strives for peaceful resolution of conflicts.
After several years of logistical restrictions, many Vienna Economic Forum members, partners and friends, including high-ranking economic representatives and political decision-makers, had the opportunity to strengthen existing ties and build new relationships. This in itself was momentous and provided us the prospect of progress and mutual advancement
This impetus was further encouraged by the realization of the 19th Vienna Economic Forum – “Vienna Future Dialogue 2023” under the motto “Economy Meets Politics in Difficult and Uncertain Times” – which took place on 14 November 2022 at the Raiffeisen Bank International in Vienna. Vienna Economic Forum remained successful in its endeavors to stay always in tune with the times by securing excellent contributions of distinguished speakers from various countries and sectors. Apart from the participants on-site, the 19th Vienna Economic Forum attracted the attention of economic, diplomatic and political representatives and over 1000 online viewers from 22 countries thanks to the official channel of the European Parliament and European Commission „Europe by Satellite Chanel +” as well.

We constantly strive to create opportunities for the further development and realization of the Vienna Economic Forum vision. This is a proof of the strong commitment and trust you have placed in us. What can be discerned from the past year of immense global challenges is that Vienna Economic Forum has what it takes to stand the trials of time. That the core goal of Vienna Economic Forum – to promote regional economic cooperation – is now more imperative than ever. This cooperation is a prerequisite for ensuring solid results that would contribute to further development and further growth.
Together we stand strong in the face of many challenges, and the vision and achievements derived from bringing economy and politics together serve as a reminder of why our endeavors are important.
