Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Members of Vienna Economic Forum!

We want to look back on a successful year 2008, which has been the year of the 5th anniversary of Vienna Economic Forum and in which we have experienced many interesting meetings in Vienna and abroad.

After five years of existence we already have a history as the Vienna Economic Forum, and traditionally we are holding our annual meeting in fall in Vienna and we are moving the other meetings to our regions. In 2008 we held our meetings in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, in the city of Becici in Montenegro, in Tirana, the capital of Albania and – in our new format Vienna Economic Talks – in the city of Pleven in Bulgaria. There we have started with this new series of events, Vienna Economic Talks, a meeting form which allows us to discuss certain topics in a smaller frame, with a specialized audience and thus we want to contribute even further to achieve concrete results and create new cooperation possibilities for our members and partners.

Cooperation is a key word from the very beginning in the concept and in the vision of Vienna Economic Forum. The cooperation is of great importance not only for our meetings to come true but also for the exchange of information on the economic interests and especially on the topics envisaged in the agenda of Vienna Economic Forum Meetings. Cooperation is an important precondition for the economic development of the whole Region.

Dr. Erhard Busek
President

So far our meetings have been a great success, the number of participants has been increasing from meeting to meeting, and the international response tells us that we are on the right way. On our 5h Jubilee Vienna Economic Forum in November we have welcomed more than 500 participants from 37 countries, and we look back on the exchange of experience, regional cooperation and investment development in the Region of Vienna Economic Forum.

We can say that again we have successfully brought together decision makers and investors from Austria and other countries with the member countries of Vienna Economic Forum, thus giving impulses and supporting common projects and concrete activities.

Another successful year is over and Vienna Economic Forum has continued to be a renowned place of exchange and experience! We are grateful for this to all our Members!

Thank you for the trust! It gives us power for further activities!

Amb. Dr. Elena Kirtcheva
Secretary General
