Principal Objectives

Promoting regional economic cooperation has been the goal of Vienna Economic Forum since its foundation in 2004, and we are proud that the economic cooperation between entrepreneurs from the member countries of Vienna Economic Forum - Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine - has developed successfully over all these years.

Among the founding members of the Vienna Economic Forum are some of the most renowned Austrian companies and industrialists. The Prime Ministers of the states of the region are, together with the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Members of the Patronage Committee of Vienna Economic Forum. All accredited ambassadors in Austria of the VEF- Members countries take part in the VEF- activities as Members of the Ambassadors Committee. To the organs of Vienna Economic Forum also belong the Honorary Committee and the Cultural Committee of the countries of the region of Vienna Economic Forum.

Vienna Economic Forum, which has been granted the Status of an International Non-governmental Organization and the Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is constantly growing and developing.

Since 2015, Vienna Economic Forum has also been listed in the Transparency Register of the European Parliament and the European Commission.

In all these years, Vienna Economic has remained true to its founding goals:

  • To popularize and promote investment opportunities in the region from the Adriatic to the Black Sea.
  • To provide impulses and, based on research, the joint projects required in the region for short-term, medium-term and long-term realisation, and promoting their implementation
  • Becoming a place of definition, encounter, and of realising the public and private interests in connection with the various projects in the region as part of a united Europe.

These goals incorporate the vision that led to the creation of the VEF in 2004: to follow a strategy that contributes to economic cooperation and development of the VEF member countries as a region that is growing together, a “VEF economic area”!

The implementation of this strategy is always in focus and determines the planning and execution of all the work of the Vienna Economic Forum team over the years!

The 21st Traditional Garden Party of Vienna Economic Forum took place on 10 June 2022 in the Paradise-Garden of Villa Flora.

After the long break of the pandemic period, the approximately 300 members, partners and friends of Vienna Economic Forum were able to enjoy the most popular summer social event of Vienna Economic Forum, defined as a "Culinary and Musical journey through the VEF Member countries".

The mixture of guests from all countries of the VEF region, from Europe and world-wide was warmly welcomed by the hostess, Prof. Mag. Tauchhammer, Publisher of Society Magazine, long-standing VEF - Media Partner and VEF honorary member.

In her emotional opening speech, the Secretary General, Ambassador Dr. Elena Kirtcheva especially thanked the Ambassadors and Charges d’affaires of the Embassies of the VEF countries and emphasized: "All of you, Excellencies, accredited in Austria, have a highly responsible mission at this specific time: to not only represent your own country, but to act much more in a regional and European dimension, to think of a common European future, to do everything in our power to ensure the prosperity and well-being of one’s own country as part of the entire region and the whole of Europe!”

Furthermore, the Secretary General and VEF founder Dr. Elena Kirtcheva paraphrased the world-famous words of former US President Kennedy from 1961: “In deep conviction that the VEF mission obliges us all, we do not ask what Austria and Vienna can do for Vienna Economic Forum and the VEF member countries, we want to do more and more for the state of Austria and the city of Vienna! In order to fulfil this mission, and to position our VEF region, the region "From the Adriatic Sea to the Black Sea" - from Vienna - even better on the European and world map, to not only to make this region more visible, but in order to support its native role in the enforcement of the economic, European and universal human values, we want to transform Vienna Economic Forum into a real international organization based in Vienna. Where there's a will, there's a way!” emphasized the Secretary General.
